Dani Guzman is a Queer Chicano writer, director, and cinematographer from Orange County, California. An NYU Tisch alum with a BFA in Film/TV Production and Psychology, he relocated to the Bay Area to finalize Buddies, a screenplay rooted in San Francisco’s queer history—as well as the project for which he seeks development support.

His short film Who Raised You?, a proof-of-concept for Buddies, will premiere this year at Frameline Film Festival during San Francisco’s Pride weekend. Working as a bartender in the local gay nightlife scene, Guzman’s work is fueled by the desire to explore queer intimacy, love, and identity; especially in contradiction to oppressive social, sexual, and economic regimes. His work blends sensual, empathy-driven worldbuilding with a journalistic interest in forgotten oral histories.
